The 34th Annual Fall Tri-State Bluegrass Festival will be held over the Labor Day weekend September 2-5, at the Noble County Fairgrounds in Kendallville, IN. This fun-filled weekend is genuine family entertainment. There are three large covered areas at the stage and concession stands with a variety of food, novelites, compact discs and tapes. Limited bleacher seating is available, so lawn chairs (low-back only) are suggested. Limited parking for persons with disabilities is near the stage area. Featured bands include The Greight Hoppers, the Tommy Webb Band, Palmer Divide, the Blud Railroad Train and many more. Barker's Chapel United Methodist Church, located at the corner of County Road 39 and County Road 4, north of Waterloo, will be holding their annual Labor Day Ice Cream Social at 4:00 p.m. There will be sandwiches, salads, desserts, and homemade, hand-cranked ice cream. The public is invited. Freewill offering.

The 20th Anniversary of the Fly/In Cruise/In will be held at the Marion Municipal Airport in Marion, Indiana. The action starts early at 7:00 a.m and runs until 2:00 p.m. This annual event features anntique, classic, homebuilt, ultralight and warbird aircraft as well as vintage cars, trucks, motorcycles, and tractors. An all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast is served, with all proceeds going to the Marion High School Marching Band. The Roanoke American Legion will be hosting its 57th Annual Parade of the Fall Festival! Awards will be given for different categories of the parade such as floats and motorized vehicles. The Tri-Lakes Lions Club will be holding a Fish and Tenderloin Fry as a summer fund raising event from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The prices will be: $8.50 for adults, $4.00 for children 12-6 and children five and under are free. They are asking that people bring canned food items to be donated to support a local food pantry in Columbia City. This is an all you can eat dinner; carryout dinners are available. The 56th Annual Mizpah Shrine Charity Horse Show comes to Columbia City September 17th through the 19th! The charity horse show features huntseat,saddleseat,driving,dressage,western, and halter classes. It is a schooling show, one of the few offered to young and novice riders. All proceeds from the show benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children and the Van Transportation Fund. Troop 460 Scouts will be having an All-You-Can-Eat Pancake and Sausage Breakfast from 7:00 a.m-12:30p.m at the Covenant United Methodist Chruch, 10001 Coldwater Road. Scouts currently 12 years old or older will be cooking and serving to earn their way to facilitate trips to Isle Royale National Park (backpacking) and other unique trips throughout the year. There will be a fundraiser held for Lois Pelz at Eagle Glen Golf Course in Columbia City. The event will start at 1:00 p.m. Lois Pelz was seriously injured in a car crash on June 5, 2009. She is an outgoing, passionate lady with a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh, and a zest for life. The accident didn't change her personality, it just changed the way she lives. This golf outing will be a great way to have fun while helping make money for Lois' ongoing care. The money raised will go toward the cost of Lois attending physical therapy at a top-notch facility in Indianapolis.
